Judge moves forward with Derek Chauvin jury selection while issue of additional murder charge in the death of George Floyd is unresolved

The murder trial of Derek Chauvin was set to begin Monday with jury selection in Minneapolis. The day began with a brief back-and-forth regarding an appeals court ruling that had the potential to postpone jury selection. A Minnesota appeals court ruled Friday that the trial court judge should not have refused to reinstate a third-degree murder charge against Chauvin.
