Julian Assange arrested at Ecuadorian Embassy in London, taken into police custody

Assange took refuge in the embassy in 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden for questioning about allegations including rape. He chose to remain in the embassy out of fear the U.S. would seek his arrest over the leaking of classified information to then-U.S. Army soldier Chelsea Manning.
