Neo-Nazi pleads guilty to federal hate crimes in Virginia car assault on counter-protesters of white nationalist rally

James Fields Jr., already convicted of state murder charges, pleaded guilty Wednesday to 29 federal hate crimes in the 2017 car assault on counter protesters of a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. Under the terms of the agreement, one additional charge, which could have brought the death penalty, was dropped.
