Rep. Ron Wright, 67, who battled cancer and contracted COVID-19, is the first sitting member of Congress to die after contracting the virus

Wright, a second-term congressman from Texas, announced he had tested positive for COVID-19 on Jan. 21. He and his wife had been in a Dallas hospital for the last two weeks after contracting COVID, his campaign said. He had also been undergoing treatment for lung cancer.
