Though the Democratic bills received some GOP support in the House, they’ll need at least 10 Republicans to hop on board if the bills have a chance of clearing a filibuster in the evenly divided Senate. The first bill the House passed Thursday expands the cases where a background check is required. The other closes the “Charleston loophole,” which allowed gun sales to proceed without a background check after three business days. |
