Dear Marci,

I didn’t enroll in Medicare when I turned 65, because I was still working and covered by my employer health insurance. Now I’m retiring at age 67 and have missed my Initial Enrollment Period. How do I enroll?

-Loretta (Tampa, FL)

Dog Park Etiquette

From Furry Friends Food Bank

“A trip to the dog park can be a joyous excursion for many dogs, but that is not always the case. A successful visit to a dog park depends on four things: you, your dog, the dog park, and the culture of the dog park.” – Don Hanson PCBC-A, Green Acres Kennel

Things you need before you visit the dog park: You should have a basic understanding of canine behavior and body language, but also of your dog’s specific preferences, likes, and dislikes. It’s also important to be confident in your ability to call your dog away from another dog if necessary.

FROZEN: A FOOD WASTE SOLUTION

From CSFP

The Food Waste Problem: The average American family throws out an estimated 25% of the food and beverages they buy.

Did you Know? Frozen food generates 47% less food waste when compared to ambient and chilled food consumed in the home.

Freezing is nature's pause button. Produce is flash frozen within hours of harvest, locking in key vitamins and minerals and preserving taste.

If you are worried about throwing out fresh fruit and veggies, frozen are a great way to extend shelf life!

Northern Light Home Care & Hospice is coming to EAAA's Durgin Center to discuss Advance Care Planning! Advance care planning involves discussing and preparing for future decisions about your medical care if you become seriously ill or unable to communicate your wishes.
