MEDICARE RESOURCES

With open Enrollment in full swing, you may notice increased calls. It's important to remember to not provide any personal identifying information to someone you don't know. Do not answer calls from numbers you don't recognize. If the person on the other line is threatening your benefits or pressuring you to make a quick decision, chances are it's a scammer. Hang up immediately. If you believe you or someone you know has been a victim of a Medicare scam, call EAAA and we can help figure out next steps and connect you with resources.

Eastern Area Agency on Aging offers free educational classes to inform you about Medicare and the important choices you have.Click hereto learn when and where these classes are offered!

I have been getting a lot of suspicious calls from people I don’t know trying to sell me Medicare plans. How do I protect myself from marketing violations?

Safe food handling for your Thanksgiving Turkey

From CSFP

Unsafe handling and undercooking your holiday bird can cause foodborne illness. Here are some tips from the USDA to keep your Thanksgiving safe and delicious!

The USDA recommends thawing your bird in your refrigerator, allowing 24 hours of thawing time per every 4-5 pounds of bird. And did you know? It's safe to cook a frozen turkey, but the cooking time will be about 50% longer - so make sure you allow ample time before dinner!

Thank you to Maine Trailer for donating 2 storage containers, Epstein Properties for allowing us to have them on-site, and Brewer Public Works for providing a forklift and much-appreciated man-power. These amazing partners allowed us to accept 39,000 pounds of pet food and supplies from Chewy and the Humane Society of the United States.

Office Closure

Eastern Area Agency on Aging and the Durgin Center will be closed November 10th for Veterans Day. Additionally, we will be closed November 23 and 24 for Thanksgiving.
