We're so proud of all of our students for maintaining their positive vibes no matter what, and for adapting so well to the circumstances. All students have been learning how to take part in programs, while maintaining social distance and proper hygiene rules. The idea of peace carries different weight in different contexts. For our students in Afghanistan, many of whom have been directly affected by conflict, their dream of peace is a country no longer at war. In South Africa, the idea of peace may center more around finding a safe space, feeling safe within your city, or developing the skills to feel an inner calm. Covid-19 brought a whole new set of challenges to delivering programs for our students in each location. We wrote about a lot of these challenges, and detailed how each Skate School has adapted to a new reality over the last few months. South Africa is a nation made up of many different ethnic groups and it’s really important for our students to celebrate their own heritage as well as to learn about and appreciate the heritage of others. This year, students and staff alike dressed in the traditional dress of their heritage, and celebrated at Skateistan. The Citizens of Skateistan is our global community of students, staff, skaters and supporters who share the dream of empowering and educating children through skateboarding. By donating $10 or more a month you can become a Citizen and help make it possible for thousands of children to attend our programs worldwide.
