The United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit (the “Court”) affirmed a Maryland district court’s granting of summary judgment, finding that a patient admission satisfies a hospital’s obligations under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) when the admission is made in good faith, e.g., with the intent to treat the patient.
