NEWSFLASH: TEAM SUNWEB'S ELLEN VAN DIJK TIME TRIALS TO FINAL STAGE VICTORY AT LOTTO THÜRINGEN LADIES TOUR
Ellen van Dijk has raced to Team Sunweb's third stage victory at Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour, racing to victory in the colours of European Time Trial Champion on the seventh and final stage. With the result, she seals her second place overall, as five Team Sunweb riders place in the top 10 on GC.
Speaking of the win, Ellen said: "Oefff this one needed to come out of my toes. It was a difficult TT to find a rhythm and I didn’t have a super day. Not to take the GC is of course a shame, but I am glad that I could win the TT. As a team we showed that we are at a super high level and we are ready for the second part of the season."
Team Sunweb coach Hans Timmermans added: "It's brilliant to take another stage win after a great stage by the whole team; we are proving to be really strong here. We owned the race from start to finish and really went for it on the hilly part of the stage launching attack after attack. We had representation in the important moves which was great, and then the team did a great lead out for Coryn to take the win. It was another fantastic job today and we can be very proud of this team."
