Team Sunweb's Ellen van Dijk (NED) has taken the victory at the opening stage of the Ladies Tour of Norway today, as she powered to prologue victory aboard her Liv Trinity Advanced SL. Making her prologue debut after taking the 2017 title, two-time European time trial champion rode to the win at the first stage of the Ladies Tour of Norway today. Van Dijk perfectly navigated her way around the course surpassing her rivals to stop the clock after a time of 3:44:92, securing the win by 64 hundredths of a second. In a day with such extreme small margins it all came down to pacing, equipment and technology. After the win van Dijk said: "This is a really nice win to take and I will for sure take some time to enjoy this moment. It was a really exciting finish with lots of fast specialists finishing in the last block of riders, so I really wasn't sure what the end result would be until the last rider came across the line. I feel like the legs are good and I'm looking forward to seeing how things go for the rest of the week with the team." |
