2018, a critical year for coral reefs?
No coral reefs, no oceans, no life. It's 2018 and corals are in the limelight. With an heir of urgency not felt since their last campaigns in 1997 and 2008, the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI) has announced that this year will be dedicated to corals worldwide awareness, necessity and impending risks.
2015, 2016, 2017 : Record-breaking global climate changes
The years 2015, 2016 and 2017 reveal a disturbing trend regarding the world's climate. As announced by the Meteorological Organization (WMO), the last three years have been the hottest ever on record. This rise in temperature is accompanied by climate disruptions and extreme weather conditions worldwide and has been attributed to the increasing concentration of greenhouse gases in the ozone.

After a sucessful crowdfunding campaign, Surfrider's chapter in Porto has developed with the Keepers of the Coast, a weekly measurement of water quality by collecting concrete and independent data on the second surf spot of Portugal. This data reveals local sources of pollution and helps local autorities to take measures to safeguard the environment and surfers.
The new chapter in Brussels has done its first action, choosing the campaign Plastic Bags. Volunteers have been raising awareness among consumers near supermarkets of the impact of single use plastic bags. They also gave our famous Tote bags out.
