Ocean Initiatives Launch Weekend: a big thank you!

From March 22 to March 25, the launching events of the Ocean Initiatives took place. You were many to get together all over Europe and pick up waste in you area: thank you! Surfrider's flagship program will be active throughout the year to carry on raising awareness and working towards sustainable change. Water: a precious common good on Earth that could be missed soon  

The 8th World Water Forum was held in Brasilia from 18 to 23 March. 40 000 people gathered to come up with solutions to the increasing water shortage in big cities. Under the heading "sharing water", exchanges, debates and expertise were the current orders to convince the heads of state to make this resource a priority.

OCEAN INITIATIVE

PARIS CHAPTER

Paris Chapter organized on March 25th with several NGOs an Ocean Initiative gathering more than 100 volunteers along the Bassin de la Villette. In only one hour and a half, more than 23 000 cigarette butts, 430 plastic cups, 150 metro tickets ad 70 straws have been collected. And the list goes on!

BEACH ART 

ROYAN CHAPTER

Royan-Oléron Chapter has been part on April 5th of the launch of the european campaign "Break Free From Plastic" created by the European Environmental Bureau. At Chay Beach, the beach artist Jben designed the first of six enormous sand art that will appear accross Europe until the Earth Day.

Plastic bottles are amongst the top 10 items collected on beaches. But there is a simple solution to change this: choosing reusable bottles. 

After the success of this product in 2017, Surfrider has a new model this year, easier to carry with you everywhere. 

Choosing a reusable bottle can significantly reduce the consumption of plastic bottles and reduce your footprint through a simple and concrete action.
