Meanwhile, the 'Oosterschelde' has arrived in Cape Verde, and the first two legs of our global voyage have been successfully completed! The DARWIN200 team has been busy as well, both while sailing and in the ports. 
 
For example, Grant Terrell's research is focused on creating an overview of the diversity and numbers of seabird species in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Southern Oceans. Guest crew members assist in spotting and recording the birds they see during their watch! The goal of this research is to compare current bird populations with those observed during Charles Darwin's journey. Some birds have already come to visit the ship as well!

Leg 14 of our DARWIN200 Global Voyage departs from Callao, the second-largest port in Peru! This part of our journey promises to be a unique experience, with a mix of challenges and beautiful discoveries. 

Peru is known for its beautiful coastline.The cold current that flows along this coastline can often create mysterious fog banks. But let's not forget that this mist also has its charms, and for us, the Peru Current also brings a favorable sea current.
 
Our destination, Puerto Lucia, is located in a tropical semi-arid climate. This port offers a beautiful contrast to the foggy shores of Peru. Here, we will enjoy warmer temperatures and explore the splendid beaches of this area.

'HELENA' BACK ON INSTAGRAM
