Don't miss Diana Damrau, soprano, this December!

Diana Damrau has been called the "leading coloratura soprano in the world." She continues to amaze audiences with her unique voice and arresting stage presence. Damrau was awarded the title Bayerische Kammersängerin in 2007 and named "Best Female Singer" at the 2014 International Opera Awards. She will be joined by harpist Xavier de Maistre in a program that includes works by Debussy, Smetana, Richard Strauss, Reynaldo Hahn, Chausson, Fauré, Duparc and Eva Dall'Acqua. The Berliner Philharmoniker comes to Boston this Friday for a thrilling evening of Boulez and Mahler. The occasion also marks Sir Simon Rattle’s final American tour as the chief conductor of the orchestra. Celebrity Series of Boston caught up with concertmaster Noah Bendix-Balgley ahead of the long-awaited engagement to learn more about what makes the orchestra so special.

Neighborhood Arts: Afro-Caribbean Music & Dance Celebration with Jorge Arce, Nov. 12

Join us this Saturday, November 12, for "Jorge Arce & Raiz de Plena y Bomba," a free Neighborhood Arts concert featuring the multi-talented Jorge Arce with special guest dancers from Hernández and Hurley Schools. This family-friendly celebration of Afro-Caribbean music, culture, and dance takes place at Roxbury's Hibernian Hall at 2pm and will be followed by a reception with the artists. Bring your dancing shoes, and be sure to RSVP to reserve your seat in advance!

Emerson String Quartet, Nov. 20

Limited tickets are still available for Emerson String Quartet's Sunday November 20 performance! The ensemble has accumulated an unparalleled list of achievements over three decades: more than thirty acclaimed recordings, nine Grammys, three Gramophone Awards, the Avery Fisher Prize, and Musical America’s "Ensemble of the Year."

Neighborhood Arts: Dorchester & Roxbury Stringfests, Dec. 3 & 4

Neighborhood Arts collaborators Shaw Pong Liu and Sandeep Das will be joined by youth ensembles for two special Stringfest performances this December. Join us for these free, family-friendly performances where you'll hear the erhu and tabla (“talking drum”) in solos and duets played alongside students in unique arrangements composed by Liu.
