October 1st saw the end of the so-called “Grace period” for the implementation of VGM. This transitional period was applied after the IMO asked its member states for a pragmatic approach regarding the implementation of VGM requirements, while the first phase of the implementation took place on July 1st.

Expectations are that there will not be any noticeable changes after the “Grace period” ends. We are still required to supply a valid VGM, without which your cargo will not be shipped.

As from 08-10-2016 a definite antidumping charge is being enforced on certain cold rolled flat steel products, originating from the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation.
This applies to steel products including, but not limited to, those under Taric code 7209 15 00 90. At present the charge has been set at 22.6% over the CIF value.

Before the end of this year, the ACI filing for Canada will be replaced by the so named “eManifest”. This has been announced by the CBSA (Canadian Border Services Agency). Likely, this will affect the time frame in which to submit your Bill of Lading instructions.
