| GETTING READY After the 100 year birthday celebrations we started with a huge maintenance period. For the first time in 25 years, the masts were taken down, checked and repaired where needed. All standing rigging has being renewed. And after an unexpected delay, due to an asbestos scandal, the ship has been sandblasted and repainted. There is still a lot to do, but she will be beautiful as never before. The 13th of December she sails off to the sunshine again to start the 2018 sailing season! Curious about our plans for 2018? |

| OCEAN CROSSINGS Magnificent skies, being surrounded just by water. Days without seeing land, no internet connection; escape the daily grit for a few weeks. From the cold winter in Rotterdam we sail to warm Tenerife, and after a short stop we continue our voyage to Sal. An ocean crossing is on many bucket lists and we speak from experience: it is something you have to do at least once in your life. This year we offer two possibilities. After our Cape Verde voyages we will cross the Atlantic Ocean and set sail to Cuba. And in May we will return from the US via Bermuda and the Azores to the Netherlands. |

| TALL SHIPS' RACES Since we won many prices this year, we incorporated some Tall Ships’ Races in our 2018 program as well. And let’s face it, nothing is better than winning the race with the most beautiful ship of the fleet! In April and May next year we will sail together with many other Tall Ships in the Gulf of Mexico. During these short 4 day voyages, we will teach you everything about sailing the ship. Read more about the races from Galveston to Pensacola, from Penscola to New Orleans, and from New Orleans to St Petersburg. Later on, in July, we will race on the North Sea from Sunderland to Esbjerg. These races are particularly designed for youngsters, so there is a discount for people from 16 to 26 years old. With the right people on board we are sure that we can enhance our price cabinet again! |

SCOTLAND In the summer we will return to one of our favourite sailing areas: Schotland. From Douarnenez we sail to Oban. Next we will make two trips in the Hebrides, from Oban to Ullapool and back from Ullapool to Oban. These are voyages specially designed for nature-lovers. The ‘Oosterschelde’ can reach otherwise inaccessible destinations. We expect to see a lot of animals like whales, seals, puffins and seabirds. There will be enough time to explore the islands in the Hebrides, such as Skye, Mull and maybe even St Kilda. New in our program is a voyage from Scotland to Cornwall. From Cornwall you can bring the ship back to her hometown Rotterdam. | |
|
| CAPE VERDE Once more we return to our sailing paradise Cape Verde. Due to our long maintenance period, we only have 3 voyages there, so if you want to escape winter, don’t wait too long. |
|
| DUTCH TALL SHIPS Meet the people behind Dutch Tall Ships! We will be present on the Special Voyage Fair in Amsterdam (6 & 7 January 2018) and the Vakantiebeurs in Utrecht (10 - 14 January 2018). The ‘Tecla’ can already be admired during the Traditional Boat Fair on November 10, 11 & 12 2017 in Den Helder. Here you can meet the crew and you can visit the ‘Tecla’. |
