Ezra's Dance Performances Wow! Wow! Wow! Thanks to the parents, family members and friends who supported the children's dance performances on Friday. It was an amazing turn out and the children and teachers really loved seeing and hearing the support from you all. I was very impressed also with the way you all joined into the dance with your children. I have captured a few moments below: Lateness to School Just another reminder we would like children out of the car, and walking through the school gates at 8:50am please. The 'come into class' bell rings at 8.55am and children are expected to have unpacked their bag and taken in all they need for their learning so that at 9am children are seated to start the day. It is fabulous to see so many of you using the kiss and drop zones in the morning, but please ensure you are at the drop off point by 8.50am. We would appreciate your support with this as children wandering in once class has started is disrupting for all and embarrassing for your child. Reporting to Parents School reports will be in your portal, on our student management system Edge, for you to access and read this Friday 31st July. You will be notified via an email. Please email the office if you have any difficulties accessing the reports, or if you don't receive an email. The email goes to the person identified as the main contact on Edge.
Next week on Tuesday 4th August we invite you into pods so children can report to you about their learning over the last 2 terms. The slots are 11-12:30pm, 1.30-3pm and 4:30-6pm. If you opt to come in the 4.30-6pm slot, don't forget to bring your children with you as this is their reporting time to you. You will receive more information from teachers later this week.
After all of this reporting you will be saturated with knowledge about your child's learning, progress and life at school. Please jot down any questions you may have so you remember to ask them at the parent/teacher interviews which are on Monday 10th - Wednesday 12th August. Instructions are above to make a booking. POD 8's Live Assembly this Friday 2:15pm Make sure you come along and enjoy Pod 8's assembly, which I am told is completely organised by the Pod 8 children. So goodbye to digital meetings and assemblies this term, we are face to face...and it feels SO GOOD! Chess Tournament Every year Markus organises a Chess Tournament for the schools from Alexandra, Queenstown, Cromwell and of course Wānaka areas. This is being held next Monday 3rd August in our school hall. There are 40-50 students taking part and so a good competition should be had by all. Markus will have further information for those taking part. |

EOTC School-Based Programme This gets under way next Thursday 6th August. If your child is based at school for EOTC or are part of the One-Day Cardrona Experience, they will bring home a letter by the end of this week confirming which group they have chosen to be part of: Adventuring, The Arts or Be the Change - in our Environment. Further correspondence with any necessary information for you about the activities they will be involved in, will come via email from the teachers leading the groups. For the first day, we would like all children to meet in the hall. A roll will be taken, they will then learn which pod they will be based at and move to this pod. For the remaining Thursdays, they will go straight to this pod at 8:50am. All groups will spend a good part of the school day outside, so it is necessary for students to come to school dressed warmly, with jackets and sturdy footwear. Students are allowed to wear 'mufti'. Keen to be involved? We would love and appreciate any parent volunteers to help us for a morning, afternoon, or a full day on any of the Thursdays! There will be a range of activities happening every day in our school grounds, which you may like to support, and having parents accompany groups leaving the school grounds will help ensure low adult-student ratios. Please email kathn@wanaka.school.nz if you are able to volunteer. |
