Kings Seeds Fundraiser for Garden to Table

Kings Seeds are giving Wānaka Primary School the opportunity to fundraise through the sale of seeds - flowers, organics, seeds for sprouting, herbs and vegetables.  The order form is attached (it is quite substantial - a hard copy was sent home with students yesterday).  Your completed orders need to be returned to the School Office by Friday 1st September.  Thanks for supporting this Garden to Table fundraiser.
CURRICULUM COMMENT

Mid Term Update

I cannot believe it is over halfway through the term already.  A warm welcome to the 5 new entrants who started in Ben's class in Pod 2 yesterday.

Our last EOTC Snow Sports and School Based day was fabulous, helped of course by the gorgeous weather.  Check out these photos:

Year 6 School Camp

This is taking place in Week 9, from Monday 11th to Friday 15th September with our Year 6 students travelling to Dunedin to participate in a variety of learning opportunities outside of Wānaka.

We also have the Upper Clutha Kapahaka group, which has 23 of our Year 5 and 6 students involved during camp week and also there is the COPPSA Cross Country.  We are communicating directly with the Year 6 students who are taking part in the events as well as camp.  What busy senior students we have.

Tribe Afternoon and Fathers Day Breakfast

Our next Tribe Afternoon is planned for Monday 28th August with a FATHERS DAY theme.  Please come dressed in Tribe colours.

The PTA Fathers Day Breakfast is taking place next Friday 1st September beginning at 8am.  Breakie Tickets are available at the school office.

POD 8 Assembly is Friday 1st September.  Everyone is welcome to come along to hear about Pod 8s learning.

An Evening of Space and Matariki

Last month, one of our teachers and her family had the privilege of going to Hawea for an evening of space and Matariki.  What a special event!  The evening was spent at the stunning Lake Hawea Station.  The families had nibbles and drinks (excellent wine for the adults!) whilst they listened to Richie Lamming's informative presentation of all things space and Darren Rewi's beautiful Matariki stories.  A real night to be cherished.

PB4L SCHOOL-WIDE GOAL

Positive Behaviour For Learning - PB4L

PB4L School-Wide looks at behaviour and learning from a whole-of-school as well as an individual child perspective.  The framework is based on international evidence and is helping New Zealand schools build a culture where positive behaviour and learning is a way of life.

Each fortnight we focus on a school wide goal to encourage positive behaviours.  The current goal is:  'Older students help and are role models to younger students'.
