IMPORTANT NOTICES

Year 5 Camp Meeting

The Year 5 Camp Meeting is at 5pm today, Tuesday 22nd October, in Room 24, Pod 6.  All parents are invited to attend.

Friday 1st November is Gumboot Friday!

Children are asked to come to school in their flashiest gumboots and bring a gold coin donation to donate to "I Am Hope", a charity supporting little people with big feelings.  Don't have gumboots?  No worries - just wear whatever you like, decorate your feet even, but please remember a gold coin for this important charity.

CURRICULUM COMMENT

What's Happening...

The sun is shining and many happy parents farewelled their Year 6 children as they departed this morning for camp.  They have an exciting week planned with an overnight stay at the museum, a trip to the aquarium, Orokonui and the Botanical Gardens.  We wish the parents who are helping and teachers all the best for the week.  Next week our Year 4 children are off to Bannockburn for a night and the Year 5 children the following week to Camp Columba.  Tomorrow Anne and Kelly are taking a Kapa Haka group to Queenstown for the Central Lakes Polyfest.

We expect Wendy back later in the week when she returns from her trip to Finland where she examined the practice and curriculum of their educational systems.  We look forward to hearing her feedback on a system that is regarded as one of the best in the world.

With Wendy being away the staff and office have been working hard at organising her farewell.  After 50 years in Education and 20 years at Wānaka Primary School, this will be quite the occasion.

With the onset of summer can we please ensure that all jumpers and hats are well-named as students tend to strip them off during the day as it heats up.

A reminder that it is Labour Day on Monday - no school, have a super long weekend.

PB4L SCHOOL-WIDE GOAL

Positive Behaviour For Learning - PB4L

PB4L School-Wide looks at behaviour and learning from a whole-of-school as well as an individual child perspective.  The framework is based on international evidence and is helping New Zealand schools build a culture where positive behaviour and learning is a way of life.

Each fortnight we focus on a school wide goal to encourage positive behaviours.  The current goal is:  'We are open to new learning opportunities and challenging ourselves'.

BookHub

BookHub is an relatively new NZ based website where you can search for books you want to buy online from NZ based booksellers rather than from overseas sites.

Obviously I support local booksellers as well but if you are an online shopper I fully support supporting NZ businesses before the likes of Amazon who charge exorbitant shipping fees.  Click on the icon or this link : https://bookhub.co.nz/
