Strategic Planning Survey The Board of Trustees is gathering data to inform the direction of our next 3 year strategic plan. We need input from all stakeholders. Please go to this link to find a survey about what you, as a parent, would like to see happen for your child. We appreciate it is a busy time of year and hope you can take 10 minutes to complete this survey. The survey closes at the end of next week.
The Board will then hold drop in meetings to gather people's views. From there, we will develop our big goals and strategies for the next 2 to 3 years. Book Launch Well done to the cookbook team and the PTA for a very enjoyable book launch on Friday evening. The mood was set with some jazz background music and scrumptious treats made from our cookbook recipes to thank the sponsors and parents who helped put this book together. It is a fabulous book. Well done to everyone involved.
The cookbook is available for purchase for $45 from our school office, Mediterranean Market or Wanaka Paper Plus. Year 6 Camp Day 1 Our year 6 students headed over to Queenstown last Thursday and Friday and visited the Goldfields Mining Centre in the Kawarau Gorge and the Kiwi Birdlife Park. Year 4 Camps The year 4 classes are on camp at Bannockburn this week. I visited Coral's class last night and they had a great day and were all in their PJs playing a game that elicited lots of laughter and cheers. I look forward to visiting the next class tonight. Classes for 2022 We will soon be looking at class organisation for 2022. If you have any requests, such as separating your child from certain children or keeping your child with a friend next year, please let your child's classroom teacher know, preferably by email so we have a written record. Also if your child is in year 4 this year and you would like him/her in Pod 8 next year, please email Kerry who is overseeing senior class placements. If you have any other things you would like to discuss, please get in touch with of the leadership team. Student Surveys I am currently analysing the results from the student surveys that children have completed as part of the 3-way surveys about learning and life at school. These results will be shared with the Board of Trustees and will also be included in next week's newsletter. These surveys also provide data for our strategic planning process. Blue Skies Thinking An internal school review is underway as we had a significant drop in our staffing entitlement and our operation grant for next year. Our staff are getting together next week to do some 'possibility' thinking and sharing, as this is the perfect time to reflect on how we organise for learning and also for leadership to further improve what we are doing. |

Riverside Planting Day DOC and Te Kakano hosted a fun and successful planting day at the Riverside Reserve Climbers and Picnic area last Tuesday. The plants were provided by money raised by Wānaka Primary School's 2020 Pod 5 students. This is the start of a bigger weed control and reforestation project that will in time, attract Tui, Bellbirds and hopefully Kereru to the popular swimming and climbing spot. |

Positive Behaviour For Learning - PB4L PB4L School-Wide looks at behaviour and learning from a whole-of-school as well as an individual child perspective. The framework is based on international evidence and is helping New Zealand schools build a culture where positive behaviour and learning is a way of life. Each fortnight we focus on a school wide goal to encourage positive behaviours, the current goal is: 'We admit our mistakes and tell the truth'. |
