CURRICULUM COMMENT

Year 6 Campers

The campers had a marvellous time and looked very tired on their return...and that was just the staff who went.  Thanks to Anna, Kath, Karina, Markus and Dave for the great work that went in behind the camp.  And thanks to Charlotte Lawrie who stepped in to go to camp as Karina was unwell.

Countdown to the Pantomime Performance:

We had most of our students in the panto turn up last Sunday from 1-4pm for a run through of the panto.  Thanks parents for supporting this.  We will also be holding another weekend practice on the upcoming Sunday (21st November) from 10 -12noon at school in the hall.  We would love as many of the children as possible to join us for this rehearsal.

Props and costumes needed for our pantomime, called 'Rock Bottom', set in the stone age.
  • Cavemen clubs inflatable or otherwise
  • Dinosaur onesie to fit a 10 year old and 1 bigger size
  • Tiger or cat onesie to fit a 10 year old
  • Large plastic bones...clean chewy dog bones would do
  • Toilet seat and toilet brush - new rather than used
  • A baby doll in a nappy
  • Any animal print material or scraps we could cut up
If you are able to supply any of these please bring them to the office. Make sure all items are named clearly so we can return them after the panto.

We also need some parents who are handy with a sewing machine to run up some cavemen outfits.  If you are keen to help please email wendyb@wanaka.school.nz.

At the Board of Trustees meeting last night the following reports were presented:

EOY Reporting on Student Progress and Achievement

In accordance with Level 2 restrictions we will not hold our student reporting to parents sessions as planned in Week 8 as we had many more than 100 in each pod during the day last year.  Instead we will send the student reports home via our Edge portal on Friday 10th December, and invite you to book a parent/teacher interview from now, right up to the end of the school year (15th December) by emailing your child's teacher directly.
SCHOOL NOTICES

Paralympic Day

Yesterday a group of year 4 and 5 students along with some PALs went to the Rec Centre for a Paralympic day.  We had Kiran from the Halberg Trust, Nelly from Parafed Otago and Ella from Sport Central helping the PALs lead each sport.  The four sports were wheelchair basketball, boccia, goalball and adaptive football. A big thank you to the Halberg Trust, Parafed Otago and Sport Central for organising and providing all the equipment and expertise. Everyone had a great day.
