Dear reader,

The 2021 parading season was still due to be a couple of months away, however following an announcement by the Orange Order on Monday, there will be no parades this year until at least June.

The announcement has significant ramifications for celebrations to mark Northern Ireland’s 100-year anniversary. A major parade and rally to mark the centenary was due to happen on May 29, but this has now been postponed.

We have to keep hoping that the situation in the Province keeps improving thanks to the vaccination effort and that by the spring, the situation will look an awful lot more optimistic.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in Northern Ireland has increased by 11, the Department of Health has revealed.

The Covid-19 dashboard also revealed that 314 people have tested positive for Covid-19 over the last 24 hours, meaning that 3,688 people have recorded positive tests over the last seven days.
