Nicola Sturgeon's Christmas gift Christmas will come early for many of Scotland’s most vulnerable families with Nicola Sturgeon set to announce plans to provide a direct payment to all families with children receiving free school meals. In a move which the First Minister hopes will help tackle child poverty during one of the toughest winters in living memory, the payment will be made before Christmas and those receiving it will be able to use it for whatever they wish. Celtic condemn fans behaviour Celtic have condemned the behaviour of their supporters after manager Neil Lennon and his players were pelted with objects thrown by an angry mob after the Betfred Cup defeat to Ross County. Nicola Sturgeon accused of 'lying' on BBC over Salmond allegations The Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross accused Nicola Sturgeon of lying on the BBC’s Andrew Marr show after the First Minister was confronted with a clip from 2018 where she said she did not know of sexual harassment allegations against the former first minister Alex Salmond until April. Ms Sturgeon, who was speaking to Andrew Marr on Sunday morning, was shown a clip of her responding to a question on whether she had “heard any stories” about Mr Salmond prior to it breaking in the press.
