Nicola Sturgeon will order SNP to vote down Alex Salmond’s Alba motion to begin immediate independence negotiations

The First Minister has vowed to order her SNP colleagues to vote down any attempt by Alba MSPs to force the Scottish Government to begin independence negotiations at the start of the next Parliament.

Speaking on BBC Radio Four’s Today Programme, Ms Sturgeon said trying to “bulldoze our way to independence” risked alienating Scottish voters.

 

Legal action announced over Covid restrictions on clubs and hospitality

The Scottish Government is facing legal action over Covid-19 restrictions on nightclubs and hospitality, it has been confirmed.

The Night Time Industries Association (NTIA) has announced plans to take legal action against the Scottish Government over coronavirus restrictions.

In a statement, the organisation has accused the Scottish Government of offering “wholly inadequate” support and claimed 39,000 jobs were now at risk.
