No easy answers to parking problems

A recent study found that Columbia needs more downtown parking to encourage economic growth but suggests that parking prices need to be higher, as people currently have little incentive not to drive to work. The report found vacancy rate for parking garages in the central business district is 16.14%.

S.C. sees record SAT participation

The number of test takers in 2019 increased by 28%, according to the S.C. Department of Education. The state’s Advanced Placement exam scores outperformed the nation in 8 out of 10 top categories.

Districts receiving 205 new school resource officers

The state’s 81 public school districts, as well as charter schools, will receive funds approved by the General Assembly to add 1 to 4 officers, depending on need, according to the S.C. Department of Education.
