Hi Achternaam,

Do you know someone who wants to start canning, but doesn't know where to begin?

I have a free, 7-part Quick Start Series that walks beginners through the basics of water bath and pressure canning, canning safety, and more. It's a tour for those who want to sort through all of the information in an efficient way, without missing anything important.

If you know of someone who might benefit from the series as we begin another canning season, please share it with them!

Recipe for Salmon Patties - This recipe for salmon patties uses either home canned salmon or commercially canned salmon. You could even substitute tuna for this recipe if you don’t have any salmon on hand.

DIY Cold Frame - It all started because it was cold...but beautiful! So I figured I’d go putter around the garden. I walked over by the shed and saw the windows we picked up that someone was giving away. The windows + cinderblocks + my desire to plant early with as little fuss as possible = my DIY cold frame.

Canning Spinach, Kale, & Chard - Canning greens like spinach, kale, swiss chard, or beet tops is super easy. The hardest part is probably the washing step. Greens can be crinkly, and you’ll need several rinses with fresh water to get all the dirt out.
