"Normal" is a long way away.

South Louisiana still reels from the punch delivered by Hurricane Ida last weekend. The power is still out to many, fewer than half of Baton Rouge's gasoline stations still have fuel and people across the region are doing what they can to stay cool.

Ida still had hurricane force winds when it rolled through the Florida Parishes early Monday. Paul Cobler tells about the wind gusts here, and David Mitchell profiles the region's Ida victim here.

The Saints have moved their season opener to Jacksonville; the Superdome is OK, but it takes more than a building to put on an NFL game and, frankly, New Orleans isn't in any shape to host the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 12.

LSU is on the road this weekend at UCLA, then returns for its home opener Sept. 11
