Also, physical attacks pale in comparison to weather, fire threats

Many critical infrastructure organizations have completely isolated their OT network from external connections, to prevent unwanted threats from entering. This introduces a challenge when it comes to sharing PI data between two networks. Through hardware-enforced cybersecurity technology, critical infrastructure organizations can securely transfer PI system data one-way out of OT networks to an IT network, the cloud, or any other external network. No suspects yet in Duke substation shooting

On Saturday evening someone working alone or in a group shot up two substations in Moore County, North Carolina, taking out power to 45,000. Utility Duke Energy managed to restore electricity to about 7,000 but the remaining folks are on their third day in the dark. The attack is calling into question the overall security of the electric grid. Our newsletter today is focused on the Duke substation attack but also how to keep the overall grid secure in these challenging times.

Despite the headline-grabbing nature of a physical attack, a host of other threats command most of the attention for grid operators.
