Nordic Innovation House - New York now open for business
Four Nordic ministers 200 attendees were present as Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers, Dagfinn HøybrÃ¥ten and Managing Director of Nordic Innovation, Svein Berg, cut the ceremonial ribbon to mark the official opening of Nordic Innovation House â New York 20 September.
The new incubator, which will run as a three-year pilot project, aims to support and realise the full potential of Nordic innovators and create a strong Nordic startup community in New York.
"The Nordics have a lot of promising and talented startups and entrepreneurs, but one of our largest challenges is how to help more of them scale their business. The Nordic Innovation House in New York can be a part of that solution, and can provide our talents with the support they need to go globalâ, said Svein Berg at the opening event.
Nordic Innovation House â New York is the result of a unique alliance between all the five Nordic countries and is inspired by the succsess of Nordic Innovation House in Silicon Valley. The house is mainly financed by the Nordic Council of Ministers through Nordic Innovation.

Grants available for promoting Nordic solutions for sustainable, smart and liveable cities
Nordic Innovation is looking to create an ambitious showcase and export programme for Nordic solutions to sustainable urban development. We are therefore now launching a call for proposals for activities promoting Nordic solutions for sustainable, smart and liveable cities to relevant stakeholders from outside the Nordic region.
Application period: 2 October June â 8 December 2017 13:00 CET
Funding decision: 21 December 2017
Budget: Up to NOK 1,5 million
This funding opportunity is part Nordic Sustainable Cities, which is one of six flagship projects under the Nordic prime ministersâ initiative Nordic Solutions to Global Challenges and is coordinated by the Nordic Council of Ministers.

The next step in our creative future
Cultural and creative industries (CCIs) have for many years been a strong asset in the Nordic region, as they are very fast moving and trend orientated, as well as being close to tackling societal challenges and consumer demands.
Earlier this September, Nordic Innovation hosted the Cool & Creative Nordic conference in Malmö to investigate opportunities and obstacles that digitalisation poses for scalable consumer contents within CCIs.
