Decentralized ‘Twitter Killer’ Nostr Goes Live On Apple’s App Store

Nostr, a decentralized social networking protocol, has gone live on the Apple App Store through its popular mobile app, Damus.

The protocol spiked in popularity after former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey became an enthusiast and made a 14 bitcoin donation to its creator. Nostr creates an account through a key pair of public and private keys, and leverages asymmetric cryptography for private messaging.

Although still a niche project in its infancy, Nostr is an open and censorship-resistant communications protocol with promising potential. With its listing on the App Store, Damus can now reach a wider audience.
