This menorah, now covered in rust, was discovered by one of our volunteers amidst the ruins of Kibbutz Nir Oz. In this place of tragedy, out of 400 residents, 180 were either brutally killed or taken as hostages on October 7th. This menorah would have been lit right now, on the first night of Chanukah. Throughout history, we have faced relentless attempts to annihilate us. From the ancient Greeks in the story of Chanukah to the horrors of Nazi Germany, and now, enduring brutal attacks from Hamas and other radical Islamic terror groups. Yet, in each of these dark chapters, our spirit has not only endured but has grown stronger, our unity unbreakable. This Chanukah, the menorah from Kibbutz Nir Oz, amidst its horror and loss, stands as a poignant reminder of our ongoing struggle and indomitable spirit. It symbolizes our unwavering light in the darkest times. In these challenging moments, Zaka Tel-Aviv's commitment remains steadfast. Our volunteers work tirelessly, providing aid and comfort. We stand as a beacon of hope and strength, facing the current onslaught with determination and unity. |
