Dear friend and supporter, This morning I was prepared to email you and other supporters a message of hope, as today is Israel's Independence Day (Yom Ha’atzmaut), a time we proudly celebrate the miracle of our homeland... But I am writing with a much heavier heart. Early this morning, devastating wildfires erupted across the Jerusalem Hills, spreading rapidly through forests and rural communities. What was meant to be a national holiday has become a national emergency. Entire villages have been evacuated. Over 7,000 people were forced to flee their homes with little more than the clothes on their backs. Roads are shut down and the skies over Jerusalem are thick with smoke, and the air quality is now among the worst in the world. Feed Israel volunteers, we are on the ground, doing what we do best: helping people in crisis. Our members rushed into action, bringing food, water, and essentials to those displaced by the fires. We are currently coordinating to help as many people as possible and the need is growing by the hour. We’ve always been committed to feeding Israel’s most vulnerable — and today, that mission is more urgent than ever. Your support means the difference between despair and dignity for so many families who have lost everything in a single day. |
