Click here Thursday, 30 March 2023 NOTE TO JOURNALISTS Fifth Global Forum on Human Resources for Health The Fifth Global Forum on Human Resources for Health will take place from 3 to 5 April 2023 in Geneva, during World Health Worker Week, under the theme of Protecting, safeguarding, and investing in the health and care workforce. Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General and Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al-Hussein of Jordan, WHO patron of nursing and midwifery in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, will open the Forum on Monday, 3 April at 09.30 CEST. The Forum will be a hybrid event, with speakers in the high-level roundtable dialogue participating in-person, and parallel sessions and other learning and networking activities held virtually. The language of the Forum will be English, simultaneous interpretation into UN languages will be provided for the high-level roundtables. Note to editors Marking more than five years since the adoption of the Global Strategy on Human Resources for Health: Workforce 2030, the Forum will provide updates on progress in its implementation and share evidence and experiences on workforce development, as well as opportunities for a post COVID-19 era that will inform the implementation of the Working for Health 2022-2030 Action Plan. It will examine the required policy solutions, investments, and multi-sectoral partnerships to address health and care workforce challenges and advance health systems towards universal health coverage and health security. The outcomes of the Forum will inform the United Nations General Assembly’s High-Level Meetings on Universal Health Coverage and Pandemic Preparedness Prevention and Response in September 2023. The Forum is intersectoral and will engage participation from a range of actors, including decision-makers across education, finance, gender, health, labour / employment, and migration sectors. World Health Worker Week, 3 to 7 April is celebrated in the first week of April, coinciding with World Health Day. It aims to support, appreciate and raise awareness of the important role of health workers everywhere. It is an opportunity to mobilize communities, partners and policy makers in support of health workers. Theme for 2023 is “invest in health workers”.
