Hi John,

Last month I shared that we were just getting a taste of fall, and 31 days later I can firmly say it's arrived in usually sunny Northern California.

Autumn is such a thrilling time for young children, with visually arresting landscapes and natural treasures like pinecones and pumpkins to investigate. Falling leaves also offer themselves as free art materials, and there are countless ways to create and explore with them.

In honor of the mighty leaf, the free November Creativity Guide offers you four different ways to explore. Each activity could begin with a simple leaf-gathering walk (a favorite for getting outside). Follow this with one of multiple ways to discuss changing seasons, the colors children notice in autumn leaves, leaf textures, and patterns.

How to use the Creativity Guide:

  1. Print it or save to your desktop
  2. On the digital download, hit the "click here" links to reveal additional steps
  3. Follow the Success Tips to have a great maker experience with your child or students.

Activities in this Creativity Guide:

  1. Glue: Process Art with Leaves and Glue
  2. Watercolors: Coffee Filter Suncatchers
  3. Crayons: Melted Wax Lantern
  4. Contact Paper: Sticky Leaf Collage

Check off one activity each week and you’ll be well on your way to establishing a creative habit that sticks.
