Two Graduations, One Graduate!

By: Ali Metcalf, Communications Director

On the evening of November 8th we celebrated two milestones in the life of one of our residents, Christina. She accomplished not only graduating from The Joy House Residential Program, but also earning her high school diploma from The Joy House Academy. Christina chose to have a small ceremony at The Joy House to celebrate these big accomplishments. Friends and family gathered together along with some of our ministry staff and partners to applaud Christina. We urge you to keep Christina and her mom, Kim, in your prayers as they navigate this new season of life together. We praise God for allowing The Joy House to minister to Christina and her family, and we thank you, for impacting another teen's life for the better through your support. Christina's testimony will be published in our Annual Holiday Newsletter coming to your mailboxes next month.
Our Girl's and Boy's Home, Counseling Center and Administration Office have compiled Christmas Wish Lists. We are grateful for our supporters that enjoy blessing our ministry in this special way during the holiday season. Ready to Receive a Dollar-For-Dollar Tax Credit?

You can make a difference in the lives of our Joy House Academy students through dollars you are already going to spend and receive dollar-for-dollar tax credit. This is accomplished through the Georgia Qualified Education Expense Tax Credit Program. Each year, the State of Georgia allows a portion of state income tax dollars to be designated for school scholarships. The portion for 2019 has been increased to $100 million. This program allows individuals and companies to receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for donations for student scholarships at accredited non-profit private schools in Georgia, including The Joy House Academy. You can get all the details about this program by clicking HERE. You may also contact Steve Lowe directly for more information at 706.253.7569 or steve@thejoyhouse.org. Scholarship contributions can have a significant impact on supporting The Joy House program, as nearly 20% of our budget needs are for education. Thank you for your consideration!
We thought this would be a good time to revisit one of our most popular articles written by Dr. Garry Barber titled "Dealing with Holiday Grief." We encourage you to read this article whether you are facing a loss during this holiday season or in case you might find it helpful in ministering to those in your life dealing with grief during this time of year. We have found it to be a great resource for many.
