NSW scraps quarantine for international arrivals |
|
NSW will open its borders to fully vaccinated international travellers — who will no longer need to quarantine in hotels, or at home — from next month. NSW is the first state or territory to lift the requirement for quarantine. Premier Dominic Perrottet also announced people from Sydney will not be able to travel to regional NSW until 1 November. |

All hail the heroes of lockdown – our dogs! |
|
This week on ABC Sydney Evenings, we’ve been voting for the Dog of the Year.
I was inundated with dog photos on our text line and ABC Sydney’s Facebook page exploded with beautiful creatures. Listeners weren’t just voting for the type of dog but for their own dog, often labelled “the love of my life”. My dad always said “dog” is “god” backwards and it’s clear we worship them.
Perhaps that’s why the gentle gorgeous rescue Greyhound and the noble, beautiful Golden Retrievers did so well as did the clever Kelpies and boisterous Border Collies. Check out the wonderful entries here.
But regardless of the winner, your dog won. Your dog is the best. Your dog deserves a lockdown medal! So do go back to the world carefully; if you are leaving a dog behind, they will be bereft after having you so close for so long.
And cat lovers. My guess is your cat probably can’t wait to get the place to themselves.

Win tickets to the Sydney Film Festival |
|
The Sydney Film Festival is back and will be returning to cinemas this November! With lockdown restrictions easing over the next few weeks, celebrate by getting dressed up and seeing new festival favourites, award-winners, dramas, documentaries, thrillers, comedies, cross-genre experiments, and art-house cinema from around the world.
We're giving two lucky winners a double pass each to one of this year's films. Just tell us the answer to this question: "What is the name of the closing night film in this year's festival?" Entries close 9:00am Monday 18 October. |
