So far September is running around 3.5 degrees warmer than average in the Twin Cities. It will feel like a real autumnal September up north with highs in the 60s this week, and lows in the 50s mean free AC and comfortable sleeping weather. Meanwhile, summery highs in the 80s are in the forecast for southern Minnesota this week.

New wolf-human encounters near Voyageurs park draw scientists' concern
Researchers in far northern Minnesota are concerned about a young wolf south of Voyageurs National Park that's been seen several times along a roadside, displaying little to no fear of people. Tom Gable, who leads the Voyageurs Wolf Project, which studies the predation habits of wolves in and around the park, said he fears someone could shoot the wolf, or that people will feed it, thinking that it looks thin, and hungry.
 
Strike of about 15,000 Minnesota nurses continues into second day
Angela Bechetti, who is a nurse and part of the Minnesota Nurses Association negotiating team, said there are no negotiation sessions scheduled during or after the strike.
“We had negotiations set with the hospitals. Allina, we had one set, and they canceled on us," she said.

Twin Cities man sentenced to life in prison for string of fentanyl deaths
A federal judge sentenced Aaron R. Broussard on Monday to life in prison for sending lethal doses of fentanyl through the mail. In 2016, eleven people in ten states died of overdoses after buying drugs from his website, including University of Minnesota agricultural economist Jason Beddow. 
Central Minnesota man convicted of racially motivated stalking, assault
A 33-year-old central Minnesota man has been found guilty of assault and stalking motivated by racial bias for his months-long campaign of threats and property damage that terrorized a nearby family.
