Microsoft Introducing Audio Conferencing Pay-Per-Minute with Skype for Business Launching 1st October, this new add-on service will be available for all E1 and E3 customers. The SKU will be priced at $0, and will allow customers to purchase PSTN Conferenceing on a per-minute basis. Rates will vary by country and by inbound/outbound dialing. |

Generally available as of 1st October, the latest edition of Microsoft SQL Server allows the user to choose deployment in either a Windows or Linux operating system. The top three licensing things to know are: A new 'Azure Hybrid Benefit for SQL Server' allows customers to re-use exisitn gon-premise SQL Server licenses to run Database-as-a-Server in Azure. R-Server has been remaned 'Machine Learning Server for Hadoop', and is now available to all SQL Server Enterprise edition customers as a Software Assurance benefit. It's the first edition of SQL Server to run on Windows Server, Linux and Docker, and there's a new 'SQL Server on Red Hat Enterprise Linux' offer, providing discounts on both SQL Server 2017 and the OS to assist with migrations. |
Updates to Visio Online Visio Online Plan 1 is a new subscription plan which provides a browser-based diaramming tool. Along with this, the Visio Pro for Office 365 is being remaned 'Vision Online Plan 2', with licensing costs reflecting these updates. |
Microsoft Intelligent Communications for Office 365 is coming Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business Online are coming together, with Teams evolving to become the primary client for intelligent communications within Office 365. For customers not yet ready to migrate to cloud, a new version of Skype for Business Server is due for release in the latter-half of 2018. |
Microsoft 365 Education is here! Available as of 1st October, Microsoft 365 Education will include Windows 10, Office 365, EMS and Minecraft: Education Edition. As with its commercail counterpart, it will be licensed via Single-User Subscriptipon Licence and thus have two versions: A3, and A5. Office 365 for Education remains free, however has been renamed 'Office 365 A1'. |
