BOO! in a Bag NEW! The Deerfield Park District has everything your little ones will need to celebrate and enjoy a fun, safe and festive Halloween at home. Each BOO in a Bag includes: Halloween Treats Spooky Crafts Recipes and Activities Fun and Safe Halloween Toys BOO Bags are $10 and will go on sale October 1. Bags can be purchased at the Jewett Park Community Center front desk Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm. Bags will be available for purchase through October 23.
October 12 8:30am-3:30pm Join us for a day of supervised fun at the Jewett Park Community Center. Children will participate in a variety of activities including games, arts & crafts, and much more! Please send your child with a sack lunch and a refillable water bottle. All safety guidelines outlined by the CDC, DCEO, and IDPH will be followed.

Magic Class Learn fascinating card, rope, coin, mind-reading, and other tricks from a professional magician. Amaze family and friends! Children are grouped by age and taught age appropriate tricks. November 6 6:30-8pmFamilies will enjoy an evening together crafting and decorating sweet treats! Families will be given their own space and materials. Tables will be spaced for physical distancing. Youth Basketball Skills, Drills & ScrimmagesFocus on the fundamentals of basketball including shooting, passing, dribbling and teamwork! Participants will practice drills for 30-40 minutes, followed by a team scrimmage for the remaining time. Grade levels will be coached by parent volunteer coaches. There will be a maximum of two coaches per team. The park district will compile the teams. Each grade level will consist of a minimum of eight (8) kids and a maximum of ten (10) participants. The Patty Turner Center will be hosting its first-ever Patty Turner Center Parking Lot Music Palooza on Sunday, October 4 between 1 pm and 3 pm This outdoor event, for Patty Turner Center Members and community members ages 50+, will feature the LIVE music of Riverwood’s very own, John Maxson and the North Shore Line and Highwood’s very own, Roger That! A wide variety of music from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s will be covered as both bands take to the stage for two concerts!
To accommodate patrons safely, this event will be divided into two, time blocks; 1-1:45 pm and 2-2:45 pm. Each time block will be capped at 50 participants.
If you wish to attend this event, you must register in advance by calling the Patty Turner Center at 847-940-4010 and indicate which time block you prefer.No walk-ins will be accepted. Please bring a chair. Face coverings are required. Social distancing will be monitored.
