Celebrating America’s oldest baseball park

On June 20, Birmingham's Rickwood Field will host its first-ever regular season Major League Baseball game, when the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants come to Birmingham for MLB at Rickwood: A Tribute to the Negro Leagues. The eyes of the nation will be on the oldest baseball park in America, and some of the giants of the game are expected to be there.

The time Jimmy Buffett came to Birmingham’s Rickwood Field

Thirty years ago, on a Tuesday afternoon in late March, Jimmy Buffett played in America’s Oldest Baseball Park, when the “Margaritaville” singer-songwriter made a cameo appearance in the 1994 movie “Cobb,” based on the life of Baseball Hall of Famer Ty Cobb.
