The Yummy Retro Dessert Your Family Wishes You Knew How to Make!
Betty crocker
Stop and think about that one dish that makes you think of your childhood. Was it chewy chocolate chip cookies? Mom’s super cheesy lasagna? Or grandma’s creamy tuna noodle casserole? For me, it was my grandmother’s cinnamon rolls. I never could get the recipe right until I stumbled upon it in the Betty Crocker Picture Cook Book. This cinnamon roll recipe brought back so much comfort and joy, so I had to share it with you!
Quick Cinnamon Rolls
Dough
2 cups sifted Gold Medal® Flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. shortening
⅔ cups milk
2 tbsp. softened butter
Cinnamon Mixture
½ c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
Raisins (optional)
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening. Stir in milk.
Round up on lightly floured cloth-covered board. Knead lightly. Roll dough ¼” thick into rectangle 7” x 16”. Spread with softened butter. Sprinkle with cinnamon mixture and raisins, if desired. Roll up tightly like a jelly roll, beginning at the wide side. Seal well by pinching edge of dough into roll. Cut into 1” slices. Place cut-side-down on greased baking sheet or in greased muffin cups. Bake at 425 (hot oven) about 15 minutes. Serve hot.
Amount: 16 Cinnamon Rolls.
