Officer charged in fatal crash during chase

An Addis police officer faces a manslaughter charge after he crashed during a chase, killing two Brusly High students and critically injuring a third person.

The crash shocked the West Baton Rouge community and could lead to a reckoning over when and how officers initiate chases. Here's more about the charges against the officer. 


The mother of a student with special needs was arrested last year, accused of sending recording devices to school. Her family said she was trying to protect her daughter, who cannot speak up for herself, but deputies said she was illegally recording people. 

Now the family is suing the school district and sheriff's office, claiming their daughter was mistreated and that the school retaliated against the parents for advocating for her. Here are the allegations they're making.
