 BY DOUG GRAHAM | Staff writer Louisiana consistently ranks near the bottom in national health metrics, including obesity, diabetes and child well-being. Toward that end, a measure passed the state Senate Health and Welfare Committee on Wednesday that would enact several nutrition-related reforms, including ultimately restricting the purchase of sugary drinks with SNAP benefits. The proposed law is part of the Make America Healthy Again movement, a national effort to reshape food policy led by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F.
