On Oct. 8, Roy and Edna Disney CalArts Theater (REDCAT), CalArtsâ center for contemporary arts in downtown Los Angeles, proudly presents the Oklahoma Intertribal Noise Symposium 2022. American Indian experimental sound artists Autumn Chacon, Kite, TickSuck, Robbie Wing, and Nathan Young present a constellation of sonic experiments across genres, inspired by Youngâs 2019 Tulsa event âOklahoma Intertribal Noise Symposium.â This program includes noise musicians, drone poets, field recordists, and performance artists, âcreating and destroying sound worlds and embodying Indigenous sonic agency,â as Young describes. In conjunction, on Oct. 7 and 8, artists Alisha Wormsley and Kite present a tactile collage of thinking, becoming, speaking, and dreamingânot across from but next to and with each other. The audience is invited to experience a piece from âBlack and Indigenous Dreaming Workshopâ while lying down and at rest. After doing so, they can then imagine these voices next to them and use this conversation as a starting point for co-dreaming a new world. BUY TICKETS HERE |
