Omicron has peaked. And the Sean Payton movie drops the ball

By Bob Warren

Omicron's peak: Welcomed words: “The omicron wave has peaked in Louisiana.” So begins the story we posted this morning. But while the state has peaked as a whole, some regions – like the north shore – are still seeing some jumps. Be safe, friends.

Parade mandate: Notwithstanding the promising news on omicron, if you plan on riding in a parade in New Orleans this Carnival season, you'll have be vaccinated or show a negative test. That's what the members of the Mayor's Mardi Gras Advisory Committee were told last night. Same goes for the dance troupes and marching bands, the city said. Doug MacCash has this coverage from the meeting.

At least Payton's in it: Our movie guy Mike Scott reviews the Sean Payton-inspired “Home Team” today. The movie is about Payton’s year away from the Saints following the Bountygate episode, when he moved to Texas to help coach his son’s kiddie football team. Mike’s take? The movie's a bit of a missed connection. But, hey, Who Dats, your fav coach does have a small role…

Speaking of Payton, here are eight names to watch with team brass searches for the next great Saints coach.

Hope you enjoyed Lunch Line today. Thanks for taking a break with us.
