Show your support for independent Jewish journalism
Friend — Today is World Press Freedom Day, a day to recognize the incredible importance of a free and open press in protecting our liberties and democracy. In this time of uncertainty, maintaining a free press is especially relevant. With nonprofit organizations closing down and news publications furloughing staff, it is a critical time for Jewish journalism. The Forward is proud to be an important voice delivering incisive coverage of the issues that matter to American Jews — now and always. It is imperative that our journalists continue their rigorous reporting and commentary, keeping the community informed and connected. This World Press Freedom Day, show your support for The Forward’s fiercely independent journalism. And later this week, on Tuesday, May 5 — another reason to give — we’ll be joining many other nonprofit organizations for #GivingTuesdayNow, a new global day of giving and unity as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. In this time of crisis, we are providing around-the-clock news coverage and inspirational stories of hope. We understand the hardships many are facing. For those readers who are in a position to make a charitable gift, any amount would be so meaningful. For those who are not in that position, please support our work by reading our stories and sharing them with family and friends. We are here to support the community through these challenges with fiercely independent reporting, connecting readers to the news and to each other. As a nonprofit, independent publication, we rely on our community to support us. Sincerely, Rachel Fishman Feddersen CEO & Publisher |

P.S. This year, the CARES Act will allow you to deduct up to $300 of your charitable gifts over your standard deduction if you do not itemize your taxes. If you do itemize, the existing cap on annual contributions has been raised from 60% of adjusted gross income to 100%. |
