Good afternoon

On the day that Stormont publishes new guidance for social distancing in public places one more covid-19 related death has been announced. The latest person to lose their life with the virus died in the Mid and East Antrim council area. In the last 24 hours another 6 people have tested positive for the virus.

The new social distancing guidance, titled Guidance for Urban Centres and Green Spaces. comes only a few days before pubs and restaurants will reopen to the public and on the day that churches can reopen for the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Most Reverend John McDowell, Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland said people should not return to worship before they are ready. The Archbishop has acknowledged that some worshippers may be apprehensive about returning to church services.

As we move towards further relaxations of the lockdown cinemas across Northern Ireland have been given an indicative opening date of July 29 by the Stormont Executive. Michael McAdam, owner of Movie House cinemas, told the PA news agency that he expects the return of customers to be slow.

Keep safe everyone
