Not the most exciting Grand Prix to end Formula 1’s 70th season but the fact we got 17 races in was miraculous in itself – and we certainly had more than our money’s worth of excitement in the Sakhir GP! I find it frustrating that Red Bull always seems to finish the season strongly, and the way Max Verstappen effortlessly executed his victory in Abu Dhabi just makes me wonder why they couldn’t operate at Mercedes’ level regularly. With only small rule changes before next season starts – and that’s not far away now! – our hopes remain pinned on Red Bull-Honda repeating this kind of performance level more often. And, finally, it was good to have Lewis Hamilton back to sign-off his seventh world championship after his brush with COVID-19. This will certainly be a season that lives long in the memory, if not always for all the right reasons. Charles Bradley, Global Editor in Chief Motorsport.com |
