A Question About Reframes The artistic use of OEFT
Gary's Intro: Reframes involve the art of seeing something through "different glasses." For example, an abusive parent might be originally seen as an evil monster without redemption. Once reframed, however, that same parent may become someone who is seen as in deep need of love and acts out that internal unrest in abusive ways.
Reframes take many forms and represent the artistic levels of the OEFT process. For your use and understanding, they are prolifically demonstated (over 100 times) throughout the Self-Help Sessions.
Question: Been thinking about the purpose of reframes. To me, reframes are a way to gain a different perspective and, as a by-product, the symptom is then no longer necessary. True?
Answer: I would say it differently. Reframes are a way of exploring one's beliefs and experiences that "loosens them up" so that they are no longer hidden, forgotten, repressed and thus kept "under the table" where they are unavailable for The Unseen Therapist's healing love. As you recall, The Unseen Therapist will not interfere with our free will to believe as we choose. Thus reframes, properly done, allow more of the issue(s) to be put "on the table" for Her resolution.
